Not many actresses have earned recognition of Bryce Dallas Howard. Since the 2000’s, Howard has become a beloved icon. Whether it’s blind villagers, concerned mothers or dinosaur explorers, Howard has portrayed several strong characters. Given the sheer number of movies that she has made, making a top 10 list isn’t easy. Nevertheless, listed below are my favourite films made by an actress that deserves to be celebrated.

1. Rocketman
Elton John is a legendary musician that always earned my mother’s appreciation. I remember forming relationships with a mother that was once a fan of the world-famous singer. She would always praise timeless melodies composed by a tiny dancer singer influencing her identity. Drawn towards the yellow brick road, she loved a renowned singer that motivated her to follow dreams years ago. My mother always believed movies were an art that could never honour a singer holding a precious place in her heart. In 2019, Bryce Dallas Howard did an extraordinary job of honouring the singer in her movie “Rocketman”. In the greatest role of her career, Howard embodies the neglectful mother of the world-famous singer that composed melodies people love to hear. This is the actress unlike you’ve ever seen her before: intense, charismatic and emotional in her most memorable role. Howard has spent most of her career playing likeable women with sympathetic personalities. With “Rocketman”, however, she took a step out of her comfort zone by playing the cruel mother of a renowned singer. It’s a role that gave the actress an opportunity to showcase her talent for singing melodies that audiences hadn’t seen before. Working alongside Taron Egerton who is also amazing, Howard honoured the legacy of a renowned musician. For instance, the scene in which Sheila tells her son he will never be loved after Elton reveals he is queer causing despair is one of the greatest moments of the actress’ career. Ultimately, what makes “Rocketman” Howard’s best movie is its bold appeal. Unlike most musical biopics about famous singers, it tackles bold themes that everyone would relate to. Nearly 60 years after Elton John overcame the barrier of abusive parenting to become a famous singer changing the world forever, it’s a melodious reminder of a commemorated actress with a charismatic nature that has always made great movies which audiences commonly treasure.

2. The Village
The woods have always terrified me. At an early age, I developed a fear of woods that caused damage. My family lived in a small neighbourhood next to the woods. I had a nerve-wracking feeling that there were creatures in the woods. My fear of the woods I never had courage to enter began when I saw “The Village”. Released in 2004, Bryce Dallas Howard’s movie depicted woods causing catastrophe. In the most scary role of her career, Howard embodied a blind woman fearing the woods. It isn’t easy for actors to portray blind people. Portraying blindness poses challenges for actors, but Howard succeeded. Working alongside Joaquin Phoenix who is also amazing, Howard created a portrait of blindness that’s compelling. For instance, the scene in which Ivy ventures into the woods alone causing despair is one of the finest moments of the actress’ career. Ultimately, what makes “The Village” a great horror movie is its universal appeal. Unlike most M. Night Shyamalan movies, it tackles strong themes that everyone would relate to. The film delivers a message about terrorism which would resonate with everyone. As powerful as creatures in a village, it’s a riveting reminder of an actress that has made unforgettable movies with a meaningful message.

Housekeepers have always helped my family. I remember a housekeeper that my family came to treasure. Dedicated to performing every single chore, she was a person that my family came to adore. A devoted housemaid, she dedicated herself to doing her job regardless how much she was paid. She always made it her life’s priority to help my family. As someone treasuring a housemaid that gave my family valuable help, I adored “The Help”. Released in 2012, Bryce Dallas Howard’s movie honoured a beloved book about helpful housekeepers.
