My Favourite Rami Malek Movies of All-Time

Not many actors have built a legacy as strong as Rami Malek. Since the 1990’s, Malek has become a beloved icon. Whether it’s world-famous singers, smart prisoners or museum figures, Malek has played many strong characters. Given the sheer number of movies he has made, making a top 10 list isn’t easy. Nevertheless, listed below are my favourite films made by a commemorated actor that deserves to be celebrated.

This is the actor unlike you have ever seen him before: intense, charismatic and emotional in his most memorable role. Malek has spent most of his career by playing social outcasts in dramas. With “Bohemian Rhapsody”, however, the actor took a huge step out of his comfort zone by playing a legendary musician that’s well-known. Working alongside Lucy Bonyton who is also amazing, Malek honoured a singer that’s inspiring. Released in 2013, Rami Malek’s movie captured foster care workers taking care of youth. In the most emotional role of his career, Malek portrayed a compassionate foster care worker facing despair. It’s a role that gave the actor a chance to showcase his talent for playing emotional heroes under intense pressure. Working alongside Brie Larson who is also outstanding, Malek created a portrait of foster care that’s compelling. For instance, the scene in which Nate becomes aware of the serious issues faced by patients in the mental institution causing despair is one of the finest moments of the actor’s career.  Ultimately, what makes “Short Term 12” a masterpiece is its message. The film delivers a bold message about trauma which would resonate with everyone. Working alongside Cillian Murphy who is also outstanding, Malek honoured a bomb inventor that’s inspiring. James Bond is a legendary spy that my father always loved dearly. I vividly remember forming relationships with a father appreciating the iconic character. He would love discussing a goldeneye spy falling from the sky with no time to die. Through his lifelong love for James Bond, my father inspired me to make my film criticism dreams come true. In 2021, Rami Malek honoured the iconic spy with no time to die in his movie “No Time to Die”. In the most villainous role of his career, the actor portrayed a menacing terrorist that engages in warfare causing despair. Malek has spent most of his career playing likeable heroes with sympathetic personalities. With “No Time to Die”, however, the actor portrayed his first Bond villain. Working alongside Daniel Craig who is also outstanding, Malek created a Bond villain that’s compelling. For instance, the scene in which Safin first meets James Bond causing despair is one of the finest moments of the actor’s career. Ultimately, what makes “No Time to Die” a masterpiece is its appeal. Unlike most Bond movies, it tackles themes that everyone would relate to. It delivers a meaningful message about feminism which would resonate with everyone. Unfortunately, “The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn Part 2” falls into the latter category. Released in 2012, Bill Condon’s final Twilight film was a disaster. In the most shallow role of his career, the actor portrayed a vampire engaging in warfare causing despair. Malek brought his usual charisma to the role, standing out as the bright spot of a bad movie. Although “Breaking Dawn Part 2” is a bad movie, it honoured Malek’s commemorated legacy.
