My Favourite Robin Wright Films of All-Time

Not many actresses have built a legacy as bright as Robin Wright. Since the 1990’s, Wright has become a beloved icon. Whether it’s feminist warriors, princesses in danger or space commanders, Wright has portrayed many strong characters. Given the sheer number of movies she has made, making a top 10 list isn’t easy. Nevertheless, listed below are my favourite films made by an actress that deserves to be celebrated.

1. Forrest Gump

Intellectual disabilities impacted my identity. At an early age, my life forever changed when I was diagnosed with Autism causing emotional damage. I remember experiencing terror when I was diagnosed with disabilities putting my life in danger. Autism affected my abilities to succeed in a competitive school system. Nevertheless, my mother’s inspirational wisdom motivated me to cope with Autism. Few films I’ve ever seen have captured intellectual disabilities that cause a bump in lives of individuals as powerfully as “Forrest Gump”. Released in 1994, Robin Wright’s best movie captured the life of a man with intellectual disabilities. In the greatest role of her career, Wright portrayed a woman that has a romantic affair with an intellectually disabled man facing despair. This is the actress unlike you’ve ever seen her before: intense, charismatic and emotional in her most memorable role. Wright has spent most of her career playing romantic heroines in period dramas. With “Forrest Gump”, however, she took a step out of her comfort zone by playing a terminally ill woman. Working alongside Tom Hanks who is also outstanding, Wright created a portrait of intellectual disabilities that’s compelling. For instance, the scene in which Jenny reveals the heartbreaking news that she is dying from AIDS to Forrest causing despair is one of the finest moments of the actress’ career. Ultimately, what makes “Forrest Gump” Robin Wright’s best movie is its universal appeal. Unlike most movies about intellectual disabilities, it tackles strong themes that everyone would relate to. The film delivers a profound message about intellectual disabilities which would resonate with everyone.  Nearly 30 years following the release of a groundbreaking film about war veterans recounting with nostalgia memories of growing up in Alabama, it’s a riveting reminder of an actress with charisma that has manufactured unforgettable movies which attract audiences to the Cinema.

10. Here

Robin Wright hasn’t always made great movies that are bright. While most movies the actress has made are appreciated, a few have left audiences disappointed. Unfortunately, “Here” falls into the latter category. Released in 2024, Robert Zemeckis’ drama was a disaster. In the most shallow role of her career, Wright portrayed an aging woman that experiences the passage of time causing despair.
