In the most bold role of his career, Bautista played a thief facing despair. It gave the actor a chance to showcase his talent for stealing the show in a supporting role with limited screen-time. Working alongside Daniel Craig who is also amazing, Bautista created a mystery that’s compelling. For instance, the scene in which Duke is aware that a murder has been done causing despair is one of the finest moments of the actor’s career. Dave Bautista hasn’t always made great movies attracting audiences to the Cinema. While most movies the actor has made are appreciated, a few have left audiences disappointed. Unfortunately, “My Spy: The Eternal City” falls into the latter category. Released in 2024, Peter Segal’s comedy was a disaster. In the most shallow role of his career, Bautista portrayed a spy seeking to care for a young child causing despair. Bautista brought his usual sharp humour to the role, standing out as the bright spot of a bad movie. Although “My Spy: The Eternal City” is a bad movie, it honoured Bautista’s legacy. As strong as J.J.’s desire to become a spy, it’s a spectacular reminder of an actor that hasn’t lost his abilities to make memorable movies that satisfy which I will forever treasure for inspiring me to achieve dreams of film criticism that I glorify.
