‘Captivating CIA Thriller’

This film stars Ben Affleck, Bryan Cranston, Alan Arkin, John Goodman, and Victor Garber. Its plot follows a CIA specialist (Ben Affleck), who creates a bizarre plan to free six Americans during the Iranian revolution.
Despite having great directorial credits, Ben Affleck has often been overlooked as a filmmaker and actor. His latest feature “Argo” is a compelling movie that features fantastic performances, excellent direction, and a terrific screenplay. Affleck’s direction is brilliant. He manages to complete the seamless task of blending humor and drama in a solemn film. Rodrigo Prieto’s cinematography is stunning, giving this movie a tense and realistic atmosphere. Chris Terrio’s screenplay is praiseworthy, because of the ways in which it highlights Iran and creates intriguing characters. Alexander Desplat’s soundtrack enhances this film to another level.
Ben Affleck delivers one of his best performances. He has powerful screen presence and his character has a very profound personality. Along with the supporting cast, he deserves recognition for his acting. John Goodman and Alan Arkin are top-notch. Goodman is charismatic and charming as John Chambers, while Alan Arkin is hysterically comical as Lester Siegel. The rest of the cast including Bryan Cranston and Victor Garber is at the top of its game.
In conclusion, “Argo” is one of the best films of the year that proves Ben Affleck is one of the greatest directors working today. While its pacing is slightly slow in parts, this is still recommended for serious movie-goers.
Nearly 40 years after the Iranian hostage crisis that changed the world forever, it’s a touching tribute to a real-life disaster that can contribute to greater understandings of the Middle East which has always been regarded as a country posing danger.
