“The Avengers” (2012) – Scarlett Johansson’s Marvellous Introduction to the Avengers

Writer/Director: Joss Whedon

Starring: Robert Downey Jr., Chris Evans and Mark Ruffalo

‘Marvel-ous Entertainment’

“The Avengers” is written and directed by Joss Whedon. Its screenplay is based off a comic book by Stan Lee and Jack Kirby. This film stars Robert Downey Jr., Chris Evans, Mark Ruffalo, Chris Hemsworth, Scarlett Johansson, Samuel L. Jackson, Jeremy Renner, and Tom Hiddleston. Its plot follows Nick Fury (Samuel L. Jackson) of S.H.I.E.L.D. who brings together a team of superheroes to form the Avengers. They will have to help save the Earth from Loki (Tom Hiddleston) and his army.

Joss Whedon has created a pitch-perfect film. He has seamlessly made an entertaining, action-packed, and engaging movie that explores superhero flaws. This extravaganza film features amazing performances, a fantastic script, and impressive visual effects. Whedon directs it using his knowledge of the substance material. Bringing four superheroes into one film is quite a risky plan, yet the director surprisingly lets each character shine. One of the reasons why this film works so well is because of its script. The screenplay is filled with quirky, humorous, and memorable dialogue. Its a pleasure to see characters interacting with each other so flawlessly. Visual effects are almost always badly executed in these kinds of films, but thanks to an astounding team they work very well. The last hour of this film is visually stunning and an action-filled delight.

The whole cast is terrific. Robert Downey Jr. is as always superior as ‘Iron Man’. He adds tremendous comical relief because of his interactions with the other actors. Chris Evans has matured as an actor ever since he appeared in “Captain America: The First Avenger”. ‘Captain America’ could not have been played by any other actor. Chris Hemsworth delivers a better performance than the one he gave in “Thor”. He is more resolute, serious, and devoted. All these actors are great, but the true standout performer is Mark Ruffalo as the ‘Hulk’. Ruffalo delivers a more realistic and profound performance than the two previous actors in this role. The ‘Hulk’ even looks like Ruffalo and that clearly tells the audience that CGI has improved over the last decade. The rest of the cast including Scarlett Johansson, Samuel L. Jackson, Jeremy Renner, and Tom Hiddleston is at the top of their game.

“The Avengers” is Marvel’s ultimate gift to comic-book fans. Not only is it one of the best films of 2012, it’s also one of the best superhero films ever made. Recommended for blockbuster lovers.

Nearly 50 years following the formations of a superhero team working together, it’s an awe-inspiring tribute to a group of heroes collaborating to save the world from danger that had a massive impact on popular culture.
